John Malkovich Real Life Hero?
John Malkovich might know how to deal with life-threatening situations on screen, like, fighting zombies in the movie, ‘Warm Bodies.’ However, he hasn’t had a lot of experience with such stressful situations in real life. That all changed late last week when he came to the rescue of a bleeding man.
The Toronto Star reports that John was just chilling on the side of the street smoking a cigarette when he noticed a 77-year-old man bleeding on the ground. The man was 77-year-old Jim Walpole from Ohio. He apparently tripped and slashed his throat open on a scaffolding. When Malkovich noticed what happened, he ran over to the man and applied pressure to the man’s neck. He didn’t let go until the ambulance arrived, this according to a doorman who witnessed the entire event.
The doorman also says that Malkovich tried to calm the man down. The 77-year-old was apparently worried about going to the hospital, but the actor told him, “Listen, they got a really good (health care) system up here.”
The man from Ohio is doing fine now after having to get 10 stitches on his neck. “I asked, ’What’s your name?’ He said, ’John.’ And I didn’t ask the last name because I didn’t figure I’d remember it anyhow.” the man told reporters.
I love hearing stories like this. I mean, I don’t like hearing about people slashing their throat open, but I like hearing stories about celebrities who still have a heart. Good job, Mr. Malkovich.
