Jim Carrey Speaks Out Against ‘Kick-Ass 2’

The “new” Jim Carrey is making headlines yet again for speaking out against violence, but this time he wasn’t calling those against gun control, “heartless motherf%kers.” No, this time he is speaking out against his own movie!

Mr. Carrey was lucky enough to take part in the new Kick-Ass movie, Kick-Ass 2. In the movie he plays Colonel Stars and Stripes. His character in the movie has a dog that bites on the genitals of his enemies, which sounds completely awesome to me. Anyway, if you have watched the first movie, you know that the Kick-Ass series is a pretty violent one. The films are based on the comic book series about a teen superhero. They were created by Mark Millar and both films are rated “R.”

Well, despite happily agreeing to do the film several months ago, Jim Carrey now says he can’t support the film. You can view his tweets down below…

“I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to…

I meant to say my apologies to others involve with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”

This announcement comes as a shock to many people, including the creator of the comic book series, Mark Millar. He responded to Carrey’s comments on his website…

“As you may know, Jim is a passionate advocate of gun-control and I respect both his politics and his opinion, but I’m baffled by this sudden announcement as nothing seen in this picture wasn’t in the screenplay eighteen months ago. Yes, the body-count is very high, but a movie called Kick-Ass 2 really has to do what it says on the tin.”

The movie is set to be released on August 16th and is expected to do extremely well at the box office. As of right now, we don’t know if Jim Carrey will take part in any of the upcoming press for the movie, but we have our doubts.

Oh, Jim. I remember when you were just a hilarious comedic actor who didn’t get caught up in politics. You just aimed to entertain people and you did a damn good job of it. After all, you are an entertainer, right? It’s confusing to me that only now have you had this sudden change of heart. There are terrible tragedies happening all over the world every single day. In fact, you talked about one of those tragedies on your Twitter last year.

Remember the Colorado movie theater shooting? You spoke out against that and talked about gun control then. That was before the filming of Kick-Ass, right? Was that just not enough violence to change your mind? I’m just confused. And besides, it’s not movies or videos games causing these terrible shootings. It’s people! People are going to do terrible things. If the only thing on TV was Barney, people would still be shooting other people.

Why? Because people are f–ked up, and you can’t fix that. It sucks, but it’s the truth! So, if us “normal” people want to see a dog bite someone’s nuts off in a movie, I think we should be able to enjoy it without feeling guilty about it.
