Demi Lovato Starts Fund To Help People With Mental Illnesses

Demi Lovato just lost her father last weekend, but she’s already honoring him by launching the, ‘Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program.’

She was on Good Morning America yesterday when she revealed the exciting news. Of course, Demi has struggled with mental illness herself. However, she also revealed that her dad suffered from mental illness, as well.

“I’ve dealt with mental illnesses, but my father also dealt with mental illness. And he wasn’t able to function very well in society. And this week, I’m the launching the Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program.

I’m basically helping one person at a time. I’m going to pay for their treatment. I’m working with Cast Recovery, which is a treatment center that I’ve worked really really closely with.”

The 20-year-old singer also talked about her relationship with her father, and even though she admits that they didn’t have the most ideal relationship, she says that, “he’s still my dad and I grew up with him. And he’s a wonderful person.”

Well, that’s great to hear. Turning a bad situation into something positive to help others who are suffering. Demi might be a little annoying sometimes, but she appears to be more mature than most celebrities that are her age.
