Nick Cannon Writes Emotional Open Letter to Amanda Bynes

Nick Cannon might be a scrawny little dude on the outside, but it’s clear that he has one big heart on the inside. The 32-year-old host of America’s Got Talent wrote a very emotional letter to Amanda Bynes on his website a couple of days ago.

Bynes and Cannon have a special connection that dates back to their childhood days on Nickelodeon. They both kind of grew up together and became “famous” together.

Nick has been hearing about the troubles she has been having lately and now he is reaching out to his former friend by writing an open letter to her on his website,

“The questions have ranged from, ‘Have you spoken to Amanda’ to ‘Are you working on her rap album’. Sometimes I would answer in a playful humorous manner and sometimes I would brush it off as another pop culture topic that a reporter was trying to retrieve a sound bite for. But after recent events of Amanda being admitted under psychiatric care and reported as 5150, I see this as no laughing matter.”

He then goes on to write about how the entertainment industry is tough, saying, “the entertainment industry just consumes people and spits them out like flavorless bubblegum.” He also makes it clear that while he thinks that entertaining people for a living is one of the best and easiest occupations to ever have, it still can be very dangerous if you don’t know to “navigate” through it.

Nick ended the long letter by speaking directly to Amanda Bynes,

“So I say to my sister Amanda Bynes you’re not alone. I’m here for you. I understand. I care and I appreciate you, because that’s what family does and that’s what family is for. I also extend this to anyone else in my life, past or present that may find themselves in hard times. I’m here! Call me! Because I truly believe, the hand you’re helping up today may be the one you’re reaching for tomorrow.

So not to be all cheesy and over sentimental but I got to end this with the ingenious Wither’s lyrics ‘Lean on me when you’re not strong and I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on. For it won’t be long until I’ll need somebody to lean on.’”

What a good dude. Nick has always seemed like one of those very approachable celebrities. It’s nice to see that he’s coming out to support his friend.

Here is a slow clap just for you Nick…
