Former Disney Star Lee Thompson Young Commits Suicide

Some very sad news to report today. Actor Lee Thompson Young, best known for his role in Disney’s ‘The Famous Jett Jackson‘ has committed suicide at the age of 29.

Young currently had a role in the TNT show ‘Rizzoli & Isles‘ and when his co-stars on the show noticed he didn’t show up for work today, they sent his landlord to go check on him. When his landlord opened the door to his home, he found the actor’s dead body with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Law enforcement officials have not commented on the situation as of yet, but Young’s manager Jonathan Baruch released a statement on his death,

“It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning … Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed.”

We’re sure more details will come out soon enough, but it’s obvious Young was struggling with something. It’s a shame that he felt like this was his only choice, you have to wonder if there were any warning signs. Could this tragedy have been prevented?

One thing is for sure, we have lost a great actor. He wasn’t your typical “Disney” actor, he showed a lot of potential and it’s a shame we will never get to fully appreciate it.
