Glee Star Becca Tobin’s boyfriend, Night Club Mogul Matt Bendik Found dead!
At this time there are way more questions than answers.
Becca and her boyfriend were said to be in Philadelphia on business. Reports state that they were out together the night before which would have been Wednesday, and reportedly a maid discovered the body on Thursday afternoon in a hotel in Philly.
Currently no cause of death has been identified, or no explanation as to where Becca was at the time. Did she have an appointment in the morning? Was he killed? Did he OD after she left?
Like I said….way more questions than answers.
The couple appeared to be in a great relationship as instgram and social postings showed they were very much in love. Just Wednesday he posted this pic of her with the hashtag #Womancrushwednesday [more…]
This comes at a hard time for Becca as Sunday will be one year after close friend and Glee co-star Cory Montheith’s death.
SO JUST WHO WAS MATT BENDIK? WAS HE REALLY A NIGHT CLUB MOGUL?
At only 35 years old it’s hard to imagine that you could be a night club owner, let alone “Mogul”.
However Bendik was no overnight success. Back in 1997, when he was a freshman in high school, Bendik approached a group of seniors who were throwing parties in an old church. When he told them that he wanted to be part of the “In” group, and offered his help and they had him cleaning up and throwing out bags of garbage after every party.
When the seniors graduated and went off to college, fate stepped in and they actually offered Bendik the chance to buy the business, and just like that, for a few hundred bucks he had the party list, the contract to rent out the church and all the DJ equipment. He remembers his first weekend of his 2nd year of high school he came home one night after a party and emptied all his money on the table in front of his parents. There was over $10,000.
“My parents looked at the stack of bills – there was over $10,000 dollars. Naturally, they immediately thought I was into something illegal. It took a few weeks to convince them there were zero drugs. No alcohol. Just kids coming to listen to music, dance and cut loose for a few hours.
At age 15 he managed to parlay that into promoting and LA club. When he was ready to graduate high school he was making more than most 40 year old men and he figured he would just continue without the distraction of school, but his mom and dad knew the importance of education and did a little research and offered him a win-win scenario. He explains,
My mom floated this brochure in front of me for the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration in update New York. She said, ‘Wow, look at some of these classes they offer!’ Which included facilities management, accounting and other tasks that were essential to success in the nightlife business. My interest was piqued.”
As part of the course Bendik worked at and managed some of the hottest clubs in New York and Vegas. After graduation he moved to Vegas and learned everything he could about the actual construction of nightclubs and also how to bartend. All that ground work paid off.
At the time of his death Mr Bendik ran and owned numerous clubs including AV nightclub and the Avertine restaurant inside it as well as well as running one of West Hollywood’s hottest night spots DBA.
I’m sure there is much more to this story – stay tuned. Like us on facebook to stay updated with all the latest.
Our prayers go out to the Bendik family and their friends.
