The winner of the 11th season of American Idol just experienced his best Christmas yet. Phillip Phillips asked his longtime girlfriend Hannah Blackwell to marry him last week. The 24-year-old singer announced the happy news on his Facebook account.

“My best Christmas surprise is happening. We’re engaged yall!” He wrote alongside the adorable photo you see down below.

The lovely couple met before Mr. Phillips was hit with the stick of fame on Idol. They met in 2009 while volunteering at a women and children’s shelter, and they have been in love ever since. In fact, Phillip Phillips has stated it was Hannah’s support that helped him during his time on American Idol.

Speaking of Hannah, she also shared the happy news with her social media followers. She posted the photo you see down below to her Instagram account, with the caption, “I’ve been dreaming of this for over 20 years. I’ve been dreaming of this guy for just that long.
