John Legend And Common Made Everyone Cry With ‘Glory’ Performance At The Oscars (VIDEO)
Did you know the Oscars were on last night? The 87th annual, ‘Let’s Honor White People’ awards? If you didn’t, you can click here to visit our movie site to check out the big winners from last night.
This post isn’t about the winners, though. It’s about the beautiful ‘Glory‘ performance from John Legend and Common. Even though Selma didn’t get the recognition it deserved, the powerful song from the film did take home the award for Best Original Song. A small victory, but a victory nonetheless.
John Legend and Common took full advantage of it. Not only was their performance wonderful, but their speech was (almost) even better.
We wrote this song for a film that was based on something 50 years ago but we say Selma is now because the struggle for justice is right now. When people are marching to our song, we want to say we are with you. We see you. We love you and march. God bless you.
That quote is extremely powerful on its own, but when you read it back with the voice of John Legend in your head, well, it becomes…legendary?
Check out the performance down below. And you may need something to dry your eyes.
