WATCH: Wayne Rooney Gets Confronted by WWE’s Wade Barrett at Ringside and Slaps the 6ft 7in Wrestler In His Face! The Crowd Goes WILD (VIDEO)
Wayne Rooney is an international superstar. He not only plays for, but he is the captain of Manchester United and the England National Soccer Teams. When an athlete of his caliber gets called out on twitter the whole world finds out about it. That’s exactly what happened when WWE’s Wade Barrett, sent out a tweet accusing Rooney of diving to win a penalty against Barrett’s favorite team Preston, during last year’s FA Cup.
Wade struck first tweeting:

CEO Vince McMahon is simply a genius. You do not become worth $750 million dollars by letting opportunities slip by. He knew that the WWE would be touring the UK and simply asked Rooney if he would like to be in on the act. (Shhh…don’t tell the audience that it’s not real.)
RAW COMES TO THE MANCHESTER ARENA
Rooney shows up at the event with his 6 year old son and his pals. Barrett has the microphone in the center of the ring when he spots Rooney, and it was on. Barrett began to talk smack about Rooney to the entire audience,
In this ring are two men who can be easily be described as championship material. Which is, of course, more than can be said of Wayne Rooney and Manchester United.
Not cool. Especially in front of your six year old son and his friends. Then it gets really personal. Barrett then said,
I’d hate for your little boy to sit there and watch his own father fail. Because let’s face it, he gets to experience that every single time you step on a football pitch.
Those are fighting words; and indeed they were. The 5 ft 9 inch Rooney got up and challenged the 6 ft 7 in wrestler to step out of the ring and step to him. No problem. Barrett gets out of the ring and comes face to face with Rooney and starts pointing at his chest and yelling in his face. You can see the kids in the back scared for their life as the size different between the two becomes immediately apparent. Then Rooney reaches up and smacks Barrettt so hard he topples over. The……crowd…..goes…..wild.
Yes…we all know about wrestling, it’s like Santa Claus, it’s just fun. Enjoy it while it lasts and don’t ruin it for those who still believe.
