Find Out Why Rihanna’s Huge Grammys Performance Was Canceled At The Last Minute!

It seemed like everyone in the music business performed at the 2016 Grammys. The show just seemed to drag on at some points. I watched the entire thing live. I couldn’t fast forward through anything. Do you know how difficult that was?

But even though the show lasted three-and-a-half hours, I would have gladly sat through an extra four minutes to watch Rihanna’s scheduled performance. The 27-year-old singer was scheduled to perform her ‘Kiss It Better‘ song and it was apparently going to be a huge production, which featured The Late Late Show host James Corden as the pretend host of some ’80s talk show.

Corden explained what was planned on his show after the Grammys ended Monday night…

What she wants you to do is be like an ’80s talk show host and I’d have funny glasses and sit on a thing, maybe have a cigarette, and I’d introduce Rihanna, and she’d come out and do a song and then at the end she’d come and sit with me, like it was its own talk show.

But sadly that never happened and poor Corden didn’t get to join Rihanna on stage. The performance was canceled at the last minute because doctors told the singer she was not allowed to sing.

A rep for Rihanna released the following statement to E! News

Based on Rihanna’s examination, after Grammy rehearsal today, Rihanna’s doctor put her on vocal rest for 48-hours because she was at risk of hemorrhaging her vocal chords. The antibiotics she has been on for 3-days did not kill the infection adequately therefore she cannot perform safely.

And while this had to be disappointing for Rihanna and all her fans, it was even more disappointing for Corden. He was looking forward to making his big Grammys debut. He was even bragging about it while walking the red carpet before the show.

Thankfully, LL Cool J saved the day by allowing Corden to help him introduce the performers for the special Lionel Richie tribute.
