Say What? Chloe Grace Moretz Reveals She Turned Down An Invitation To Join Taylor Swift’s Squad
Taylor Swift is one of the most powerful women in the world. If she and Hillary Clinton ever shake hands, an earthquake would probably take out California. It seems like every female celeb out there wants to join T-Swift’s squad.
She has models, actresses, singers, writers, dreamers, etc. Her squad is certainly talented and full of powerful and beautiful women, which is probably why an invitation was sent out to the extremely talented and smart Chloe Grace Moretz.
The now 19-year-old actress won over the hearts of many six years ago as Hit-Girl in the Kick-Ass franchise. She has landed several huge movie roles since then. Heck, she even worked with Denzel Freakin’ Washington in 2014’s The Equalizer. She’s also set to star as Ariel in a live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
She talked with Complex recently about her career, and for some reason she was asked if she had received an invitation to join Swift’s squad. Moretz admitted she was contacted, but she declined the special invite.
Why? Well, she’s not a fan of Hollywood’s concept of girl squads. She told the magazine that they “appropriate exclusivity…they’re cliques!” — She then went on to talk about her definition of equality among the sexes…
It’s not just about women being powerful. It’s about races being powerful; genders being powerful.
During the lengthy interview, she was also asked if she was worried about the criticism surrounding The Little Mermaid from some people in the feminist community.
We want to make this good for girls. We can’t make this regressive tale in a modern world. We’re going to flip it on its head. It’s going to feel good for women and men in the sense that it’s not just appropriating feminism, and it’s not leaning on regressive stereotypes.
Geez. It’s hard to believe she’s only 19-years-old. She’s going to have a looooong career in Hollywood.
