Watch: This Racially Charged Season of MTV’s ‘The Real World’ Ends With Two Cast Members Getting Sent Home (Video)

finale

I’m sure most people never thought that this season would end like this, however I could see it coming.

I saw it from the first exchange in the 2nd episode when Jenna was at the mirror putting on her makeup and describing her Southern “views” and beliefs.  At first she came across as someone who was just grossly miss-informed on all matters of diversity: race, religions, sexual orientation…you name it.  Anything different in her mind was sub-par and that was that.

In the past, MTV has been able to pull off transforming people who have less diverse backgrounds from rejecting to accepting by the season finale.  When you spend time with people and depend on people you really learn that people are truly people.  A great real life example of this are people who play High School team sports or people in the military.  When they come out they don’t see race, they see brothers and sisters.  People they had to depend on for their success.

Well this season of the Real World is the exception.  Even after nearly getting sent home, Jenna did not change her ways, in fact she got worse.  The entire situation came to a head when she was on a Skype call with one off her racist friends.  This is when the “GO PICK COTTON” comment first emerged.  Watch.

Smh…. #therealworld

Although Jenna did not say it, she laughed and did not correct her friend which is just as bad.  I’ve had friends make comments about “white” people that I don’t agree with.  If it’s just me and that person, I tell them to “chill” and then I quickly distance myself from that person, and then they find themselves removed from my facebook friends.  It’s that serious.  For Jenna to not correct her friend, but to laugh and encourage, she might as well have said it herself.

VIOLENCE IS NOT THE ANSWER EXCEPT WHEN IT IS

Violence is not the answer even though it might initially feel satisfying, very satisfying.  I’m sure everyone is going to get crazy on me, but CeeJai is really the victim here.  MTV finally casts a strong, intelligent, curvaceous, sexy black woman who is not stuck up.  She is down to earth, adventurous and just all around cool.  I mean she takes dumps with the door open on national TV…that’s marriage material!

MTV then sits back and watches this woman get torn down repeatedly. No one deserves this.  This is what happens in corporate America and America in general lately.  We see it with Michelle Obama, we see it with Serena Williams and now we watched it on The Real World.  A strong black women taking shot after shot with nowhere to go.  There is no TV in the house, there is no escape.

EVERYONE WILL FORGET THAT JENNA ACTUALLY THREW THE FIRST BLOWS

The previous week a drunk Jenna ran across the room and attacked Ceejai.  Because Ceejai quickly deescalated the situation, it was not seen as serious as it really was.  She was attacked.  Point Blank Period.  (I hate when people say that but it gets the point across).  Jenna should have gone home.  If the producers weren’t looking for ratings…at the sacrifice of people’s lives, Jenna should have gone home.

Right or Wrong?  Watch.

The next week Go Big Or Go Home was definitely the theme.  Things got Big and People went home.

Sure, CeeJai could have let it go and left the room but then we all wouldn’t have learned a very important lesson –anyone can be pushed to their breaking point.  Anyone.  And that’s what happened and the producers watched and let it happen.  Hell, the roommates watched and let it happened.

Everyone wanted this to happen.   When I hear the comments being said that were said, I’m putting a stop to them ASAP.  I don’t want to be anywhere near those kinds of hateful things.  Instead of just standing in the back, making OHHh and Ahhh faces, why not stop Jenna from attacking this beautiful black woman that has been nothing but a pleasure to be around the whole season.  Kudos to Kailah for speaking up and loudly but the other cast mates should have joined her.  Those were just down right viscous comments.  How come no one else joined in with Kailah, who was even on the phone with her mom at the time? Why Not?  I’ll tell you why.  Because everyone wanted this to happen.  Watch:

If I’m MTV, I’m pretty happy.  The Real World is buzzing again, ratings are probably up, and my job is done.  As a fan of The Real World, I’m also pretty happy.  Jenna got what was coming to her, Ceejai came off a lot better than she probably realizes and hopefully this incident doesn’t impact her future goals.  However, I already know it will.  As much as I would like to think that Ceejai can leave this in the past, this has been cemented in Youtube clips, reruns and “best of” shows.  It’s something that I’m sure CeeJai will be able to overcome, but it’s just another obstacle in her way to getting where she wants to be in her life.

That being said, I think it will also make her stronger….so look out.

The bigger question is, Who from this Season is signing up for “The Challenge”!!
