Oh No! ‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Are Furious After It’s Revealed Mike Richards Is Expected To Take Over As Host
Yikes. Twitter was in shambles on Wednesday after a report came out claiming ‘Jeopardy!’ executive producer Mike Richards was close to signing a deal to become the new host of the game show.
Everyone believed recent guest host LeVar Burton was the frontrunner for the job. The support for Burton was overwhelming, but apparently that didn’t matter to Richards and the rest of the producers behind Jeopardy.
According to the new report, Richards is expected to take the reins of the famous game show. He’s reportedly in advanced negotiations with Sony Pictures Television. This after the late Alex Trebek hosted for 36 years.
It’s worth noting that Richards has had experience in hosting before. He hosted the reality show ‘Beauty and the Geek‘ for The CW, and he’s helped produce more than 4,000 hours of game shows. He knows the world better than most. He’s the safe pick for the job.
But that doesn’t mean he’s the right pick, especially if you’re listening to Twitter.
Just take a look at some of these tweets…
LeVar Burton should be the next host of "Jeopardy!" I can't believe we're even having this discussion. He's the obvious choice.

TFW you hear Jeopardy is in negotiations to make Mike Richards the permanent host and NOT LeVar Burton. pic.twitter.com/Mj0XXxHOXK

You can’t make everyone happy, eh? I mean…I understand. Richards is a boring choice. He’s not exciting, but I suppose the network values how much time he has put in.
At the end of the day, it’s just a game show.
