‘Friday’ Star Anthony Johnson’s Wife Calls Out “Fake Love” Says Family Can’t Cover Funeral Costs
Earlier this week we told you about the shocking death of ‘Friday‘ star Anthony Johnson. His death was reportedly unexpected and according to the reports, he dropped dead inside a store in Los Angeles earlier this month. No cause of death has been announced.
When the news of his death was shared earlier this week, several stars jumped on their social media accounts to pay tribute to the late actor/comedian.
But his family, including his wife Lexis Jones Mason, says they need more than thoughts and prayers on Twitter.
Lexis tells TMZ … she and her family have been getting a ton of what she describes as ‘fake love’ left and right in the wake of her husband’s sudden passing earlier this month … which she’s quite upset about, seeing how she needs financial assistance.
As she tried to hold back tears, Lexis explained how the Johnson family has started a GoFundMe to cover funeral costs, but they’ve come up way short of their $20k goal. When she gave the interview, they had raised less than $800.
And, in spite of people apparently telling her they’d donate and chip in … Lexis says much of that just hasn’t materialized, and seems folks would rather lend emotional support instead of actually helping out in a way they really need right now.
Lexis isn’t asking for a handout either, BTW … literally just enough to do right by Anthony. And, as many know, funerals are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination
But are you ready for the good news? After TMZ shared the story, the Johnson family has reached their goal and more. The current total raised sits at $22k, which means the family should have more than enough to give Anthony a proper sendoff.
One of the top donations appears to be made from Lil Rel Howery, who donated a very generous $4,000. I always knew he was a nice dude. That’s why he’s been having so much success lately. Good things happen to good people…eventually.
