Chris Rock Claims He Was Offered To Host The Oscars In 2023, But He Turned It Down With The Quickness!
The Oscars 2022 were hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes, but no one probably remembers that because it was Will Smith’s slap of Chris Rock that stole the show.
And apparently, the Academy wants to make the most of that moment. According to Chris Rock himself, the Oscars recently reached out to him to host the 2023 ceremony.
He talked about the offer while performing in Arizona this past weekend. He said they offered him the hosting gig, but he felt like he couldn’t take it because it would feel like going back to a crime scene.
He referenced the murder trial of O.J. Simpson while explaining his stance. Rock joked that going back to the Oscars would be like asking the late Nicole Brown Simpson ‘to go back to the restaurant’ where she left her eyeglasses before being killed in 1994.
Rock also mentioned that he turned down a Super Bowl commercial offer that came shortly after the slap. During his set, he told the crowd the slap really hurt, but he tried to play it off like it didn’t.
He talked about the physical difference between the two stars. Smith is taller and weighs more. Rock joked, “He’s bigger than me. The state of Nevada would not sanction a fight between me and Will Smith.”
And he’s not wrong. You put those two in the ring… it would not be a fair fight. It really seems like Rock is having trouble moving on from this event.
Dude might need to enter therapy or something. I find it surprising that Rock has never been slapped before.
