Al Roker Hospitalized After Blood Clot In His Leg Moved To His Lungs

The most famous weather anchor in the world, Al Roker, is on the road to recovery today after being hospitalized for the past week.

If you’re an avid watcher of the Today show, you may have noticed the 68-year-old weatherman had been MIA the past few days. Fans were beginning to worry about him, and it looks like for good reason.

Early Friday morning (Nov. 18) Roker jumped on his Instagram account to share a photo of fresh flowers and a mug he received while inside the hospital.

He then explained to his nearly one million followers what he’s been dealing with:

So many of you have been thoughtfully asking where I’ve been. Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots into my lungs. After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery.

He also thanked everyone for their well wishes and prayers. Several celebrities and journalists commented on the photo, including Octavia Spencer, who wrote, “Praying for you, dear friend!”

Today correspondent Samantha Guthrie wrote, “You’re the strongest person we know. We miss you and will see you soon!!”

Roker’s wife, Deborah Roberts, shared that she’s so thankful for the “top notch” medical care Roker has been receiving. No word on when he’ll be able to leave the hospital, but hopefully he’ll get out before Thanksgiving, so he can be at home for the holidays.

Here’s to a speedy recovery!
