Former ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show’ DJ Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss Dead At 40 By Suicide
Some extremely heartbreaking news to report today. Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss has died at the young age of 40 after taking his own life.
His wife, Allison Holker Boss, confirmed the news in a statement to PEOPLE:
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans. To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt.
She went on to end her statement by writing, “I will always save the last dance for you,” which is just all kinds of heartbreaking. Geez.
Stephen is such a familiar face to millions, thanks in large part to his DJ gig on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He started DJing for the show back in 2014 and was with Ellen until the show came to an end in 2022. He even became an exec producer on the show in 2020.
His first big break in Hollywood came in 2008 when he was runner-up on So You Think You Can Dance.
He went on to do some acting, landing several roles where he could show off his dance skills. Stephen played Jason in the ‘Step Up’ movie franchise, and he was also in ‘Magic Mike XXL.’
According to the reports, Allison ran into a LAPD station on Tuesday in a frantic state because she said Stephen left the house without his car, which is not something he typically does.
We’re told, a short time later — around 11:15 AM — paramedics got a call for a medical emergency at an L.A. hotel … and they found Stephen there, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It sounds like he had been having issues. I don’t think Allison would have reacted that if everything was just chill. She knew something was off. Just such a sad situation.
He leaves behind three children. Our thoughts and prayers definitely go out to them and his wife.
