Days After Appearing At The Golden Globes, Lisa Marie Presley Has Died At The Age Of 54
Some terribly shocking and incredibly sad news to report today. It’s being reported that Elvis Presley’s only child, Lisa Marie Presley, has died at the young age of 54-years-old.
This is so surprising because she looked happy and healthy just three days ago at The Golden Globes. She was in the crowd to support Austin Butler for his Best Actor win after portraying her late father on screen. She was seen nearly in tears during his speech.
According to TMZ, Lisa was rushed to the hospital on Thursday (Jan. 12) after paramedics responded to a call from her home in Calabasas. It was reported she had experienced cardiac arrest at her home. Her housekeeper reportedly found her, and then her ex-husband gave her CPR until paramedics arrived.
The emergency officials were able to get a pulse back before taking her to the hospital, but sadly it was just a little too late. She was placed inside a coma and then pronounced dead a short time later. It’s likely she had been without a pulse for too long before her housekeeper found her. It sounds like a similar situation to Damar Hamlin, except he got medical care almost immediately.
A rep for Priscilla Presley, Lisa’s mother, sent out the following statement:
Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.
Tom Hanks, who starred alongside Butler in the ‘Elvis’ film, wrote on his Instagram that he is heartbroken over Lisa’s death, “absolutely broken,” he wrote.
His wife, Rita, also talked about Lisa and how kind she was during the promotional tour of the movie.
Lisa Marie was so honest and direct, vulnerable, in a state of anticipation about the movie. She spoke so eloquently about her father, what the movie meant to her, that it was a celebration of her dad. She had her gorgeous daughters Finley and Harper with her, who made us all laugh.
Of note, Lisa was married to Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage in her earlier years, so it’s safe to say she probably lived a very interesting life.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family.
