Say Whaaat? Sources Claim Tom Cruise Has “No Part” In 16-Year-Old Daughter Suri’s Life
Some of you might not remember this, but there once was a time when Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were an item. They were together for several years and welcomed a daughter together named Suri in April of 2006.
But after the couple split in 2011, sources say Tom rarely ever saw his daughter. And as the years have passed, they’ve grown even more apart.
A source spoke to PageSix recently and revealed Tom hasn’t seen his 16-year-old daughter in a very long time. He’s not a part of her life at all. They didn’t really expand on their statement, but it’s not hard to believe.
Back in 2012, when the split was still fresh, Cruise admitted during a defamation lawsuit that he had not seen Suri for three months.
During a deposition for that same $50 million suit — which was ultimately settled — the ‘Top Gun’ star confessed that his ties to Scientology had played a pivotal role in why he was separated from his kid. When asked whether Holmes had left him ‘in part to protect Suri from Scientology,’ Tom responded at the time, ‘That was one of the assertions, yes.’
It’s pretty wild that Cruise has seemingly chosen Scientology over his daughter. I’m sure in his head he feels like it’s Katie’s fault. He probably feels like he shouldn’t have to give up his ~religion~ in order to see his daughter, but I mean, if that’s what it takes… then that’s what it takes.
Although, some people speculate it was actually the Scientology community who wanted Tom to split from Katie and Suri.
In 2016, the controversial church was once again blamed for keeping Tom and Suri apart because, according to its rules, members are forbidden from associating with nonbelievers.
Suri and Katie are nonbelievers. I’m not 100% sold on that rule though. I mean, Tom interacts with a bunch of people on film sets who are nonbelievers, so what counts as associating?
In any event, the dude apparently never sees his daughter, which is very very very sad.
