Chanel West Coast Is Leaving The ‘Ridiculousness’ Couch For The First Time In 12 Years

It’s hard to believe, but the MTV comedy clip show that steals viral videos from the internet has been going strong since 2011. That’s right, Rob Dydrek’s ‘Ridiculousness’ has been airing on MTV for the past 12 years. Often times, when you show up late to your hotel and experience the archaic cable setup, it’s the only damn show you see on the guide.

And since the very beginning, Chanel West Coast has co-hosted the program, alongside Dydrek and Sterling ‘Steelo’ Brim.

But now we have learned that Chanel is finally moving on from the show. She has been lifted from the couch. The 34-year-old reality star/recording artist has signed an overall deal with Paramount Media Networks, under which she’ll exec produce, create, and star in her own unscripted series.

She will also help MTV produce and create both scripted and unscripted programming. She sent out a statement to the media on the career move.

After years of being a part of the ‘Ridiculousness’ family, I’m sad to say goodbye to the show but very excited to announce my next big venture with MTVE/Paramount. It’s time for me to step off the red couch and step into the role of executive producer. My passion has always been to create, whether it is music, clothing, or film and tv. I plan to bring some of my wildest ideas and dreams to life through amazing film & television projects, build my teams, and work with other creatives paving the way on the screen. I’m also very excited for the world to see me beyond ‘the laugh’ and for once, see the real me.

No one can blame her for wanting to move on from the show. Sure, it was an easy way to make money, which is probably why she did it for so long, but she obviously wants more for herself. So good for her.

Here’s to hoping it all works out for her. If not, I’m sure Rob will save a spot on the couch for her.
