Chris Hemsworth Plans To Cut Back Dramatically On Acting Roles After Learning About His Alzheimer’s Risk
Chris Hemsworth shot to fame in recent years for his portrayal as Thor in a handful of Marvel flicks. And you’ll still see him as the lovable character in a couple upcoming flicks, including the upcoming Avengers sequel. He’s also set to star in an untitled Hulk Hogan biopic.
But after those projects? The future is unclear for the 39-year-old Australian actor. Sources say he isn’t currently taking on projects beyond the few mentioned above. And it’s not because no one wants to hire him. He’s very much in demand.
It’s simply because he wants to spend more time with his family after learning he has a high risk of developing Alzheimer’s.
Hemsworth, 39, discovered he’s at high risk for the disease while filming his National Geographic and Disney+ docuseries, ‘Limitless.’
And while he previously told Vanity Fair that’s he’s not “talking about retiring by any means,” insiders say it looks a lot like retiring. Sources believe in just a few years, the actor could be working solely as a producer behind-the-scenes.
In an interview following his Alzheimer’s indicator news, he talked about death and wanting to take time off to be with his family.
Most of us, we like to avoid speaking about death. Then to all of a sudden be told some big indicators are actually pointing to this as the route which is going to happen, the reality of it sinks in. It triggered something in me to want to take some time off. I’ve been completing the things I was already contracted to do. Then I plan to go home and… to have a good chunk of time off and just simplify. Be with the kids, be with my wife.
Can’t blame him. He’s been working nearly non-stop for the past 10 years. He deserves a break. Plus, his net worth is over $120 million, so it’s not like he needs the money.
