Drug Dealer Who Supplied Michael K. Williams With Drugs Pleads Guilty In Overdose Death Case
The dealer of the fentanyl-laced heroin that killed beloved actor Michael K. Williams has pleaded guilty. The 39-year-old man, who goes by the moniker Green Eyes, pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute heroin, fentanyl and fentanyl analogue.
He faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison, but he could see as many as 40. Although, since he pled guilty, it’s likely the judge refrains from slapping him with a max sentence.
Federal prosecutors slammed Cartagena after securing the guilty plea — as well as others who were arrested — by saying the sale of fentanyl-laced heroin brazenly happened in broad daylight … and that Cartagena and co. were preying on victims like Williams in Brooklyn.
U.S. Attorney Damian Williams also suggested the dealers continued to peddle drugs on the streets without a second thought, even after it was revealed Michael K. Williams had died.
For those who don’t remember, Williams was found dead inside his home in Brooklyn on September 6, just one day after buying the drugs from Green Eyes. His official cause of death was accidental overdose.
His passing came as a shock to Hollywood. The actor was mostly known for his portrayal of Omar Little on ‘The Wire’ — but his work went well beyond that, and he was acclaimed for his craft. He had publicly battled drug addiction.
Green Eyes is set to be sentenced in August.
