YouTuber Miranda Sings Is Losing Subscribers And Sponsors After “Teen Fart Stunt” Backlash
I really didn’t think I’d ever write “teen fart stunt” in a title, but here we are… it’s happening, and we have YouTuber Colleen Ballinger (aka Miranda Sings) to blame.
Ballinger has been a YouTuber for more than a decade, and she’s best known for her Miranda Sings character. The character is essentially an untalented woman who believes she’s destined for superstardom, which is honestly not a bad description of Colleen herself.
She has received over 2 billion views on YouTube and has more than 10 million subscribers, but that number is starting to drop. She’s lost more than 30,000 subscribers in the past week, due to multiple controversies.
One of the more odd incidents involves a now viral clip from one of her old comedy shows. In the clip, Ballinger calls up a teenage fan on the stage, and then has her spread her legs in the air. When the girl spreads her legs, a fart noise blasts through the speakers and Ballinger acts disgusted.
A woman who says she is the girl in the video is now speaking out … she says she was only a teenager at the time and rips Colleen for embarrassing and traumatizing her.
Ballinger has a podcast, and according to TMZ, sponsors of her podcast are already pulling out, including the skincare company OneSkin.
We were made aware of this previously and have decided to cease the relationship completely. This behavior is appalling and we do not condone or support it in any form.
It’s worth noting that it’s not just the fart joke, which would (no pun intended) blow over at some point. She’s also been accused of making fun of her fans in group chats with her friends. Additionally, a now 20-year-old fan named Adam claims he was “groomed” and “manipulated” by Ballinger when he was 13-years-old. More on that here.
Safe to say, the future does not look bright for Ballinger.
