Oops! Gigi Hadid Arrested For Marijuana Possession In Cayman Islands
The bad news? Gigi Hadid was arrested for marijuana possession in a foreign land. The good news? The foreign land was not Russia.
According to a new report, the 28-year-old model was traveling with her friend Leah Nicole McCarthy earlier this month when customs officers scanned their luggage upon arrival at an airport in the Cayman Islands.
The scan prompted a more thorough search of the pair’s luggage, which resulted in officers discovering marijuana and ‘utensils used for the consumption of ganja.’
Both Hadid and McCarthy were arrested on suspicion of importation of ganja and importation of utensils used for the consumption of ganja.
They were then transported to the Prisoner Detention Center for processing. After a brief waiting period, both girls were released on bail. Two days later, they pleaded guilty and were forced to pay a $1,000 fine.
A rep for Hadid told reporters…
Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license. It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear, and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.
Ah, yes. Medical use. Does anyone use it for anything but?
It doesn’t appear this little mishap impacted her trip much. She posted several photos to her Instagram from the trip, including showing off her giant dragon tattoo on her hip.
