Miley Cyrus Remembers Her “Wild” Days In New Music Video For Her Track ‘Used to Be Young’
10 years ago, Miley Cyrus was 20-years-old and making waves at the 2013 MTV Video Awards with a raunchy performance that saw her twerking all over Robin Thicke. This was also around the time she went everywhere with her tongue out.
During this time period, she also rode around on a wrecking ball naked and smoked joints onstage, which angered some parents who took their kid to her concert thinking she was still Hannah Montana.
Now, 10 years later, Miley is looking back at those days in her new track, Used to Be Young.
In the song, she sings, “I know I used to be crazy / I know I used to be fun. You say I used to be wild / I say I used to be young.”
A pretty clever line when you think about it. She’s 30-years-old now, but during her “wild” days, she was in her late teens and early 20s, when everyone is a little bit wild, because well, they’re young and free.
Later in the track, she talks about remembering “every one” of the nights she wasted and warns that open bars lead to broken hearts.
Miley told her fans that she started writing this track two years ago when she began working on her ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ album.
I have spent the last 18 months painting a sonic picture of my perspective to share with you. The time has arrived to release a song that I could perfect forever. Although my work is done, this song will continue to write itself everyday. The fact it remains unfinished is a part of its beauty. That is my life at this moment ….. unfinished yet complete.
Sounds like Miley is growing up.
