Staffers At ‘Tonight Show’ Claim Jimmy Fallon Is A Drunk Who Makes The Workplace Toxic
There’s a new bombshell report coming from Rolling Stone today. The magazine has been interviewing staffers who worked on the ‘Tonight Show‘ and the information leaking out is not great for host Jimmy Fallon.
Two current and 14 former employees, ranging from crew members to show writers, spoke to Rolling Stone about the toxic work environment.
They claim that because Fallon has a drinking problem, you never know which version of him you’re going to get on any given day.
There are good Jimmy days and bad Jimmy days. Nobody told Jimmy, ‘No.’ Everybody walked on eggshells, especially showrunners. You never knew which Jimmy we were going to get and when he was going to throw a hissy fit. Look how many showrunners went so quickly. We know they didn’t last long.
There have been a total of nine showrunners in the past nine years, which *does math* is a new showrunner every single year.
Two employees told the publication that Fallon seemed drunk at work in 2017. Another pair of workers claimed to have smelled alcohol on the host’s breath in an elevator on separate occasions in 2019 and 2020. Ex-staffers described the show as a tense and ‘pretty glum atmosphere’ where some were bullied and belittled by bosses including Fallon.
Rolling Stone even alleges that four former employees are currently in therapy after working on the show, and a few of them even had suicidal thoughts. Yikes.
That all sounds really bad for Fallon, but maybe there’s light at the end of the tunnel? Sources connected with the show claim the atmosphere is changing, thanks to new showrunner Chris Miller, who joined last May.
He’s brought a renewed enthusiasm and positive energy to the show. Chris prides himself on being available to the staff and a transparent leader. He’s exactly what the show needed. There’s a new wave that came in a year and a half ago and has just made everything change.
We’ll see if the good vibes continue once the strike is over.
