Pete Davidson Backs Out Of Opening For Matt Rife At The Very Last Minute
Pete Davidson’s favorite pastime is backing out of shows at the last minute. He’s canceled several of his own shows just days (and sometimes hours) before they were scheduled to begin.
Most of the time, he cites something related to his mental health as the reason, and we have to wonder if that was the case again this week.
According to a report from PageSix, Pete was supposed to be a surprise opening act for comedian Matt Rife during his three-night stand at Radio City Music Hall. It’s, by far, Rife’s biggest event to date, so you know he was hoping for everything to run smoothly.
Unfortunately, Davidson canceled on him just two hours before he was scheduled to take the stage.
Backstage sources at the Rockefeller Center institution say that Rife’s team had to scramble to find a back-up and eventually got someone lined up with a matter of minutes to go before the curtain went up. According to a social media post from the show, John Campanelli — who has toured with Rife — ended up filling in for Davidson.
But that wasn’t the only drama going down. During the Sunday night show, former porn star Lisa Ann (who co-hosted a radio show with Rife) was allegedly kicked out of the show and placed in handcuffs.
She claimed she was booted for recording with her phone during his set, but Radio City insiders told The Post that cops only got involved when she became ‘very disruptive’ after she was asked to stop recording. (She has denied she was recording and says she’d done nothing wrong.)
Yikes. I guess when you surround yourself with drug addicts and porn stars… sh*t happens?
