Richard Simmons Reveals He Has Skin Cancer, Days After Posting Message About Dying
It’s only Wednesday, but it’s already been a pretty wild week for fitness guru Richard Simmons. The 75-year-old star went on his Facebook account on Tuesday to reveal that he was diagnosed with skin cancer.
Apparently, he had noticed a strange bump under his right eye, which his doctor tested and discovered it was basal cell carcinoma, the most common form of skin cancer.
He explained that he has to burn my skin to remove the cancer cells. There was no numbing it just had to be done with a small instrument. As he started burning my skin a tear dropped down my cheek. You can’t cry during this and he wiped my tear. The burning really hurt my skin. It lasted about 30 minutes. After driving around the city, I went back to some sad news. I didn’t get it all out. He burned my face again. This time was worse than before…It was deeper. I did not cry this time but I did grit my teeth.
Weird. Why can’t they numb it beforehand? In any event, he concluded his post by writing, “To be continued,” so it’s not clear if he needs more treatment or not.
But what’s interesting is that just one day before this post, he wrote about how he was dying. He started out his post by writing, “I have some news to tell you. Please don’t be sad. I am… dying.”
Obviously this concerned his fans, and once he noticed the confusion, he clarified that he wasn’t dying, at least not more than anyone else on Earth.
Phew!
