33-Year-Old Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson Defends His Marriage To 57-Year-Old Wife Sam

Hollywood is used to seeing 60-year-old actors dating 25-year-old actresses, but when the genders are flipped? Well, you don’t see that as often, and no one really knows how to act.

This is why people can’t stop talking about Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s marriage. As some of you may know, the 33-year-old actor is married to 57-year-old filmmaker, Sam Taylor-Johnson. They actually met back in 2009 on the set of her film, Nowhere Boy. He was just 19-years-old at the time. Sam would have been 42.

They got married just three years later when Aaron was 22, which weirded a lot of people out. During a recent interview with Rolling Stone UK, Johnson explained why he was ready to settle down in his early 20s.

What you gotta realize is that what most people were doing in their twenties, I was doing when I was 13. You’re doing something too quickly for someone else? I don’t understand that. What speed are you supposed to enjoy life at? It’s bizarre to me.

He admitted to being protective of his relationship. After all, there are so many critics online. It’s placed a lot of pressure on him to make sure the marriage works.

I think it’s really difficult. There’s also part of me that feels like if something didn’t work, I’m the one that’s responsible. People see and perceive this thing around my career, and that’s OK. But I’m just trying to juggle my family and my work. I’m doing normal life; dentist appointments. Career doesn’t necessarily take a back seat, but it takes a different thought behind the choices that you make.

Aaron and Sam have two kids together (13, 11) and Sam has two kids from a previous relationship, so Aaron is also a stepdad. In total, they have four kids, and to hear Aaron tell it, he’s living his dream.

[I knew] I was going to have a big family. I knew I was going to be a young father. I knew I was going to have many kids.
