Ellen DeGeneres Claims She Was Kicked Out Of Showbiz For Being “Mean”
As most of you know, Ellen DeGeneres’ super popular daytime talk show came to an end in 2022. It was somewhat of a sad end to her show because in its final year or two, it was drenched in controversy.
You’ll remember, former staffers spoke out, claiming Ellen created a toxic work environment. Some claim Ellen was a menace behind the camera, while others simply accused her of letting producers treat employees like sh*t.
Ever since her show ended, Ellen has kept a pretty low profile, but she’s slowly re-entering the spotlight with a new stand-up special, which is set to be released on Netflix in the fall. Apparently, the show has not been filmed yet, but she’s been going around random spots in LA to perfect her routine.
And in a live show this past weekend, reporters were in attendance. They say Ellen talked about getting kicked out of showbiz.
What else can I tell you? Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business. There’s no mean people in show business. The hate went on for a long time and I would try to avoid looking at the news. The ‘be kind’ girl wasn’t kind. That was the headline. I became this one-dimensional character who gave stuff away and danced up steps … Would a mean person dance up steps? Had I ended my show by saying, ‘Go f*** yourself,’ people would’ve been pleasantly surprised.
She made fun of the situation quite a bit in her routine, but the reporters also note that she got serious as well.
Honestly, I’m making jokes about what happened to me but it was devastating, really. I just hated the way the show ended. I love that show so much and I just hated that the last time people would see me is that way.
Sounds like this stand-up special should be interesting. We honestly can’t wait for it.
