Why Did Rihanna Skip On The 2024 Met Gala After Teasing Her Look?

If you love fashion and celebrities, then your Super Bowl was last night. The 2024 Met Gala went down on Monday night (May 6) in New York City.

There were a bunch of big names there, including Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Dwayne Wade, Kim Kardashian, and many many more.

One big name that didn’t show up? Rihanna. It was a surprise to her fans as just a few days ago, she said she’d go “real simple” for the Sleeping Beauties fashion theme. I mean, I guess technically she did go real simple. She went so simple that she wasn’t even there!

Just last week, she told Extra:

It’s gonna come to what my makeup and what my hair is going to do. We wanna play with that, but I have no idea what I’m gonna do with that.

But on Monday night, she was nowhere to be found. According to sources who talked with People, the mother-of-two came down with the flu over the weekend and did not feel up to coming.

However, a source tells Page Six Style that Rihanna traveled to NYC after appearing in Miami for the F1 Grand Prix, and her stylist was seen at the Carlyle Hotel greeting the security team that carried her jewels earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, her boo A$AP Rocky was seen jogging around the streets of of Soho on Monday afternoon as the other stars were getting all glammed up.

We’re sure they’re kicking themselves for missing this grand event, which featured Tyla wearing a dress made out of sand… yes, sand.
