The best performance of the night at the 2016 BET Awards wasn’t even on the schedule. Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar surprised everyone with an intense performance of Freedom, a powerful track from Beyonce’s visual album, Lemonade.
No one expected the show to start off with such a bang. Everyone was looking forward to the much-hyped tribute to Prince at the end, so this opening was a nice treat. Or maybe we’re not giving it enough credit by calling it a treat.
