George W. Bush Has Gaffe Of The Year, Equating Ukraine Invasion To His Invasion Of Iraq

During his eight years being the President of the United States, George W. Bush gave us so many speaking blunders. He also gave us a never-ending war and many other things, but he lives on through his blunders, which still bring in millions of views on YouTube.

And his latest one will surely earn lots of views because it might be his most epic flub ever. The former president was speaking at SMU’s George W. Bush Institute when he started talking about Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

He was basically saying Putin is a tyrant who invaded a neighboring country without any justification. But unfortunately, he wasn’t able to stick the landing.

Political opponents are imprisoned or otherwise eliminated from participating in the electoral process. The result is an absence of checks and balances in Russia and the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq.

Ouch. Instead of saying “Ukraine” he said “Iraq” which is just all kinds of magnificent. As most of you know, Bush launched an invasion of Iraq in 2003 on the pretext Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, which he did not end up having.

So this blunder is pretty incredible. To Bush’s credit, he shrugged off the mistake and even said under his breath “Iraq too,” before adding that he’s 75-years-old.

Let’s hope he continues with these speaking engagements because it really is just the gift that keeps on giving. Who can forget this masterpiece?
