Trevor Noah Is Exiting ‘The Daily Show’ And Entering Dua Lipa
When one door closes, another one opens. It was reported on Thursday, September 29, that Trevor Noah would be stepping down as the host of The Daily Show after seven seasons.
The studio audience appeared to be shocked by his announcement:
I realized that after the seven years, my time is up. But in the most beautiful way, honestly. I’ve loved hosting this show. It’s been one of my greatest challenges. It’s been one of my greatest joys. I’ve loved trying to figure out how to make people laugh even when the stories are particularly s–ty on the worst days. We’ve laughed together, we’ve cried together. But after seven years, I feel like it’s time.
Noah explains that the pandemic made him realize how much he loves being on the road and performing stand-up. He talked about how he was stuck in his apartment for two years, and once he got a taste of hitting the road again, he wanted more.
And because The Daily Show is, well, daily, it doesn’t allow room for a lot of freedom. In fact, that’s one of the reasons Jon Stewart grew tired of the show as well.
We’ll figure out the timings and the whens. We’ll still be here for the time being. But all I can say is thank you very much. You’ve truly made this one of the best experiences of my life.
But don’t feel too bad for the 38-year-old comedian. It was also reported this week that he might be dating Dua Lipa.
They were spotted sharing a quick kiss in New York City this week after going out to dinner.
The two were photographed enjoying an intimate dinner at Miss Lily’s, a Jamaican restaurant in the East Village, and stopping on the street afterward to hug and kiss. They seemed to part ways after the date night.
A relationship between the two has not been confirmed, but they certainly looked like a couple. And with moves like this, we have to imagine Trevor will be a very busy man, even after his Daily Show exit.
