Alec Baldwin Thanks His Wife And Lawyer After Learning The ‘Rust’ Shooting Charges Against Him Were Dropped!
It’s a week of modest celebration for Alec Baldwin, his family and his legal team. The Santa Fe County District Attorney’s office announced earlier this week that it was dropping charges against Alec “without prejudice.”
You’ll remember, the 65-year-old actor was charged with involuntary manslaughter over the October 2021 fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The shooting incident happened on the set of Alec’s indie western flick, Rust.
For those who don’t know, the ‘30 Rock‘ actor fired a prop pistol during rehearsals. For some reason, the pistol was loaded with a live bullet and it struck Hutchins. The film’s director, Joel Souza, was also hit, but his injuries were not serious.
Many people blamed Alec for the shooting, even though it wasn’t his direct responsibility to make sure the gun wasn’t loaded. That’s the job of the armorer. Additionally, Alec insisted he never actually pulled the trigger. He claims the gun must have malfunctioned, which is something even the FBI didn’t believe. They investigated the incident and determined he must have pulled the trigger.
But now it’s looking like Alec may have been telling the truth. According to the L.A. Times, Baldwin’s legal team was able to prove the prop gun had been modified, and the trigger mechanism had been changed, which increased the probability of a misfire.
Baldwin insisted he never pulled the trigger. The D.A. made a big deal of its theory that pulling the trigger was a major component of its case … a case that has now gone up in flames. The involuntary manslaughter case against Baldwin is being dropped … less than 2 weeks before the trial is set to begin.
Baldwin is obviously happy. He wrote on his social media accounts that he owes everything to his wife, Hilaria, and his lawyer.
And speaking of Hilaria, she shared a photo of herself curled up in Alec’s lap. She captioned the sweet pic with a heart emoji.
