Kelly Clarkson’s Ex-Husband Ordered To Pay Her Over $2 Million After Charging Her Too Much As Her Manager

The courtroom saga between Kelly Clarkson and her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock is still going strong. They settled their custody and child support battle last year, but now another problem has come up.

According to TMZ, a California labor commissioner ruled that Blackstock overcharged Clarkson by seven figures when he acted as her manager during their relationship.

Blackstock was found to have crossed the line when he booked gigs and inked deals for his then-spouse on ‘The Voice,’ Norwegian Cruise Line, Wayfair and as the host of the Billboard Music Awards. The labor commissioner states that only agents, not managers, can lawfully secure roles for talent; however, there are a few exceptions.

He owes her nearly $3 million, according to the commissioner, but sources say he plans to appeal the decision.

Per the outlet, he made $1.98 million in commission from the singer’s role on “The Voice” but got only $93.30 after she hosted the BMAs.

Clarkson also wanted Blackstock to pay her whatever percentage he made after he landed her talk show, but the commissioner ruled that he earned that money fair and square.

For those who don’t know, Clarkson and Blackstock were married for seven years before divorcing in June of 2020. They share two kids together and because of the complicated nature of their divorce filing, they didn’t officially end the custody battle until March 2022.

Clarkson was granted primary custody and was able to keep the ranch they bought together in Montana. It was a big L for Blackstock.
