Dakota Johnson Thinks The “Nepo Baby” Label Is So Lame And Boring
You’ve probably heard the “nepo baby” label before, which refers to the child of a celebrity who has only advanced in their own career in Hollywood because of their parents.
Dakota Johnson has been called a nepo baby before because her parents are Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. She had two celebrity parents, but she claims they did not help her at all.
During a recent interview on the ‘Today‘ show, the 34-year-old actress said she hates being called a nepo baby and says anyone who writes about it is a lazy journalist.
When that first started I found it to be incredibly annoying and boring. If you’re a journalist, write about something else. That’s just lame. So the opportunity to make fun of it, I jumped at.
She claims her parents forced her to make it in Hollywood on her own. Her father would only support her financially if she enrolled in college, and Dakota knew college wasn’t for her, so she was cut off from her father’s bank account.
I definitely had moments where I couldn’t afford groceries and things like that and needed to ask my mom to help me. She was the nice one.
Of course, she likely landed some of her early gigs because of her name and connections. I mean, half the battle of making it in Hollywood is making connections, and thanks to her famous parents, she spent her entire life making connections.
We’re not saying she hasn’t earned her career now, but it would be nice for them to just accept the title and acknowledge that their path was easier than some nobody from Kentucky. It’s irrational to claim otherwise.
