Gayle King Says Oprah Was Hospitalized Due To Violent Stomach Bug: “Stuff Was Coming Out Both Ends”
Gayle King, Oprah’s longtime best friend, may have just shared a little too much information on her best friend’s health status. Apparently, the 70-year-old billionaire was supposed to appear on King’s show, CBS Mornings, but she had to cancel at the last minute.
Why? Because she had a pretty intense stomach bug, according to King.
She had some kind of stomach thing — stomach flu — stuff was coming out of both ends. I won’t get too graphic. Needless to say, she ended up in the hospital, dehydration, had to get an IV, it was a very serious thing.
I gotta admit, this is the first time I’ve ever thought of Oprah having diarrhea. For some reason, I just assumed billionaires were immune to diarrhea.
She added that Oprah “tried to rally” for the special appearance, but just couldn’t do it. Meanwhile, reps for Oprah confirmed the report, releasing the statement you see below…
Oprah is recovering following a stomach flu and received an IV due to dehydration at the recommendation of her doctor. She is resting and feeling better every day.
King added that she hopes Oprah’s not mad at her for sharing the details of her stomach virus. She says she just wanted to make it clear Oprah really wanted to be there, but she couldn’t, because, well… you know.
I wanted to make it clear that [the book] matters to her and it really bothered her that she couldn’t be here today. She so, so loved this book. Hope she’s not mad at me for sharing that detail.
For those wondering, the book Oprah was scheduled to promote is Familiaris by David Wroblewski. Check it out for Oprah!
