‘Alf’ Child Star Benji Gregory Dead At 46 After Being Found In Parking Lot
Some truly awful news to report. ‘Alf‘ actor Benji Gregory was found dead in a Chase Bank parking lot in Arizona last month.
His sister, Rebecca, confirmed his shocking death to TMZ this week. He was just 46-years-old. His official cause of death is still pending, but his family believes they know what happened.
According to his family, he suffered from depression, bipolar disorder and had a sleep disorder that would typically force him to stay awake for days and then crash hard.
The outlet also claims sources close to the actor believe he was at the bank in Peoria, AZ, on June 12 to deposit his residual acting checks from his time on the famed NBC sitcom when he fell asleep in his car and died of a heatstroke due to the area’s severe summer weather.
To make this story even more tragic, his service dog was in the car with him, and he also died.
His sister went on to say that their family is grieving Gregory’s loss and that they appreciate the thoughts and well wishes during the difficult time. She suggested that fans of the late actor could place donations in Gregory’s name to causes that he would support such as the The Actors Equity Foundation or the ASPCA.
Such a tragic end to his life. He was a household name back in the ’80s, when he starred as Brian Tanner on Alf. He acted in over 100 episodes from 1986 to 1990.
He also had guest starring roles in several other shows, including The A-Team and The Twilight Zone. He stepped away from Hollywood in 2003 and went on to join the Navy.
Our thoughts go out to his friends and family.
