Grand Opening – Grand Closing, Jay Z’s 40 /40 Club Shut-down One Day after Re-Opening for Health Violations
GRAND OPENING
Weeks after having his daughter, Jay-Z ventures out for the Grand Re-Opening of the 40 /40 club. The Manhattan hot spot received a $10 Million dollar make over, boasting of 30 flat screens, four of them are 165 inches and $650 bottles of Ace of Spade champagne. The whole affair drew a huge cross section of celebrities, athletes and moguls, including New York Knicks Mike Bibby and Tyson Chandler, super model Selita Ebanks, hip-hop artists Fabolous and Ashanti, Russell Simmons and Warren Buffet!
Fast forward 1 day and the club was shut down for health code violations.
- Perishable food at warm temperatures inside the walk in refrigerator
For some reason the fridge was at 60 degrees, it should have been 41. There was raw chicken wings, raw shrimp and turkey burgers in there.
- Hot Food left out on the counter instead of warmers.
Hot food needs to be stored at 140 degrees 5 lbs of mashed potatoes were left at a temperature of 89 degrees, cooked rice and cooked turkey burgers were kept at 67 degrees
- A worker was also seen mixing salsa with his bare hands.
The restaurant portion of the club was closed down, the issues were corrected and the club re-opened. 28 points gets you the dreaded “C” rating, and the club received 69! Which is worse then before it closed for renovations. Back then, in March 2011, the club received a 39.
If Jay-Z is the businessman he claims to be (and his bank account can attest to that), it will be someone’s job. Someone should have been fired on the spot. Although the club re-opened on Friday night, Jay-Z put some A-lister’s health at risk. This is an embarrassment that didn’t have to happen. Jay-Z has enough money to hire Chef Ramsey to run his kitchen if he needs to. I mean…stirring salsa with your hands???? Really? Those are just the things that were caught, what about those that weren’t.
Here are some pics of the Grand Opening.
