It’s a Wrap, Desperate Housewives Season 8 Will Be Their Last

When the boss says it’s a wrap, then it’s a wrap.  Paul Lee is the president of ABC and he said that Season 8 will be the last for the series.  Lee said regarding the series,

“It’s an iconic show of which we’re so proud”,

There were signs that the show would be ending as ratings dipped and Marc Cherry pulled out as the shows executive producer, to focus on other projects.

Marc Cherry says regarding Season 8,

“We wanted to make sure this show, which sort of put us on the map, had its victory lap.  I didn’t want that to happen with ‘Desperate Housewives’, I wanted to go off while it was still a viable show and doing well and was still a force to be reckoned with.”

Felicity Huffman found out while she was filiming.  Her reaction was bitter sweet:

“I think it’s so ideal because [we’re] not having to wait and see what the ratings are in year eight and maybe being on the bubble,” she says. “I think ABC made a sacrifice of year nine in order to treat the show respectfully. Artistically, the writers get to work backward from the ending and choose the best way to end it, as opposed to going, ‘Oh my god, they’re not going to renew us’ at episode 18, and scrambling to make all the ends meet.”

No spin off ‘s are planned but I could think about 3 good ones.  Too many milfs not enough time slots.  I guess it was good while it lasted.  (BTW – Mom’s I’d Like to “Friend”, like on facebook).
