Katherine Heigl Wants Back on Grey’s Anatomy, I say ABC Think Twice Before Giving In.

This isn’t rumor, this is from Heigl herself.  She wants back in and is not hiding the fact.  Next season might be her chance.

“I’ve told them I want to, I don’t know… Being a showrunner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated that I mean she’s got how many characters are there now?”

“There’s a lot and so she’s currently balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don’t know if it fits in to their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes.”

In the middle of Season 6th, in one of the worst, awkward storylines ever, Heigl was written out of the show.  Poof!  It was rumored that she was beefing with the producers and wanted to spend more time with her adopted daughter.

Now she is basically begging to be back on the show.  She said if the producers called her, she would come running.

“Yeah totally. I really, really, really want to see where [Izzie] is. I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she’s doing now,” the 33-year-old actress said.

“My idea is that she actually like figures it out, and finds some success at a different hospital. She was always floundering, always one step behind the eight ball. I want to see that girl take some power back.”

…HERE COMES THE RANT….

I say no, the hell with Izzie.  That’s like Angelina from the Jersey shore, missing her one time multimillion dollar ride and asking back in.   (That’s right, I compared JS to GA).

She thought she was going to be this huge movie star, it had very little to do with spending time with her adopted daughter.   Now she knows..it’s not that easy; especially for a woman, to be a mega-movie star.  Here is her list of her movies since her departure from Grey’s,

  • Killers (2010)  Cost $75,000,000, Earned $47,000,485
  • Life as We Know It (2010) Cost $38,000,000, Earned $53,358,964
  • New Years Eve (2011) Cost $56,000,000 Earned  $51,868,140

That’s 2 movies that lost money and one that squeaked out about $15 Million, and now her star is slowly fading.  She says she cares about Izzie?  She didn’t care when she walked out on the contract.  That puts all the characters and the integrity of the show in jeopardy.  It shattered the storyline and has left Alex’s character spinning.

I’m not saying that the Izzy and Alex storyline wasn’t great, or that Hiegl wasn’t brilliant on the show, I’m just saying that you have to think things through before biting the hand that feeds you.   At least give the writers the chance to remove you at the end of the Season with a proper exit.

I do commend her for putting her pride and ego aside and recognizing what she did.  Terrence Howard screwed up, with the Iron Man Franchise and still can’t admit he missed out on a multi-million dollar opportunity.  Weather she comes back to Grey’s or not, the show will continue go on without her…..and guess what? It’s still pretty damn good.
