AGT Contestant Timothy Michael Poe Insists That his War Story is True Despite the National Guard Stating Otherwise

The best part about Howard Stern being on AGT is Howard Stern’s radio show and hearing him talk about America’s Got Talent.  Today he was talking about Sgt. Timothy Michael Poe.

Poe touched the world with his heroic tale of suffering a combat injury and how he overcomes it by singing.  Before his turn on the stage he shared his back story and how he got injured He explained,

“I had volunteered for a team to go out and clear buildings and help out with the wounded,” he said in a taped segment. “There was a guy who come up with a rocket-propelled grenade. I saw it coming down, and by the time I turned and went to jump on top of my guys, I yelled ‘grenade’ and the blast had hit me.”

As a result of that incident, Poe said that he incurred a stuttering problem and that the problem could only be overcome when he sings.  Howard Stern said the story almost brought him to tears.

After watching the show, the National Guard basically released a statement saying that none of that actually happened.  There were no records that supported his injuries at all.  Lt. Col. Kevin Olson a spokesperson for the guard said in a statement,

“Sgt. Poe’s official military records do not indicate that he was injured by a grenade in combat while serving in Afghanistan in 2009, as he reports,”

To further make matters worse, his ex-wife also agrees.  She said that she had never heard her ex-husband stutter like he was doing on the show.

POE STILL INSISTS HE’S NOT LYING

With his back against the wall Poe still insists that the story he told was true, but he does little to support his claim.  He says that the war story is true but the people in his unit possibly never knew that it happened,

I don’t think that the guys in my unit were told by the sergeant…what really happened and why I had really gone and left,”

FISHY…

When asked by TMZ if he knew of anyone that could support his claim, he said no, he was still new to the unit.  When asked if there were any photos, Poe claimed that he couldn’t release any pictures of documents for legal reasons.

He still claims that not only is he telling the truth, he wants to sue his ex-wife and anyone else who is making false allegations that he’s lying.

On his morning show Howard basically said, “Wait till you See What Happens in Vegas!”.   Ever the showman , Howard now has us all waiting to see what really does happen.  So far NBC and America’s Got Talent haven’t commented on this matter at all.  Here is a Clip of Poe’s performance,
