Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Put a Quiet End To Their Divorce Settlement – Aww Shucks!
Well, that is basically a done dollar. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have basically thwarted the plans for E! and all the other tabloids that thought they were going to drag this story out for months! It’s essentially over!
The Hollywood ex-couple had their reps release a statement that basically confirmed what everyone expected. Scientology and it’s impact on their daughter Suri is what did them in. The reps for Cruise, (Amanda Lundberg) and Holmes (Nanci Ryder) released a statement,
“We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each others commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents,”
IS IT REALLY OVER? YEP!
According to Katie Holmes attorney Jonathan Wolfe, he says that Cruise lawyers came to the table and it’s basically a done deal,
“The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life. This result could not have been achieved without the hard work of my partner Gary Skoloff and our co-counsel Allan Mayefsky, Michael Mosberg and Larry Trachtenberg of Aronson Mayefsky and Sloan and Peter Walzer and Chris Melcher of Walzer & Melcher in California. We thank Tom’s counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.”
It shouldn’t be too hard. There was a pre-nup and there was no way that Katie was getting sole custody. The only thing that remains of interest now is “what was the parenting agreement?”. Will Suri be a Scientologist?
In all, hats off to Tom. Not only has he changed his public perception, captured the Forbes #1 spot for highest paid actors, but he managed to garner America’s sympathy by laying low and playing it cool, leaving the media really with not much to talk about.
