Rumors Swirl that Jeff Zucker Might have his Eye on Ann Curry for Anderson Cooper’s Job!

Now that Jeff Zucker is head man at charge at CNN or soon to be,  he has plans; and those plans are rumored to involve Ann Curry.  When Zucker was executive producing the “Today” show, Curry must have left a positive impression on him because Zucker is thinking about swapping Curry for Anderson Cooper in the coveted 8 PM time slot.

NY Post Page Six says,

Jeff wants a headliner like Rachel Maddow or Bill O’Reilly in prime time, He cannot allow the low ratings at CNN to continue . . . so he can’t hire a nobody. Curry fits that CNN-smarty-pants-foreign-affairs type.”

The thought is that Curry’s experience and sympathy from her fans over her firing could equal an instant following.  There are still fans who can’t believe that Curry was bounced out of her job at “Today” after only a year on the job.  Matt Lauer’s recent reputation for being an asshole is also helping her image and garnering sympathy.

Anderson Cooper is a smart man and he can see the writing on the wall.  With a decline in ratings and a new head honcho he expects changes to come.  Cooper stated,

“We’ve always done well when things are happening, and it’s in the slower times that we’ve run into problems, and I hope we figure it all out.”

The thought is that Cooper would be an on-location reporter similar to Christiane Amanpour.

A rep from CNN has basically told everyone to calm down. Nobody knows anything at this point, stating,

 “There is no shortage of rumors about what Jeff will do. He doesn’t start until late January, and any speculation at this point is just silly. Ann Curry is under contract with NBC News.”

For some January can’t get here soon enough.
