Well Golly! Jim Nabors aka Gomer Pyle is Gay and Married!

Surprise, Surprise Surprise.  For most of my readers that will mean nothing, but for a select mature few, you will remember that as one of the many catch phrases of “Gomer Pyle.  Jim Nabors who played the goofy military character announced yesterday that he married his longtime partner Stan Cadwallader.

The two tied the knot at the Fairmount Olympic Hotel in Seattle.  I guess Gomer can be considered a cougar.  Stan is 64 and Nabors is almost twenty years older at age 82.

The couple who lives together in Hawaii have been together for 38 years!  That’s longer then I’ve been alive.

Who knew that Jim Nabors was gay?  He says that he never addressed his sexuality because he didn’t want it to be a public spectacle, but he says it’s something that he’s known since childhood,

I’ve known since I was a child, so, come on. It’s not that kind of a thing. I’ve never made a huge secret of it at all… My friend and I, my partner, we went through all of this 38 years ago. So I mean, we made our vows and that was it. It was to each other, but nevertheless, we were a couple

It would have also hurt his pockets.  Let’s be honest, Nabors had two hit shows, comic books, and albums.  None of which would not have been possible if he came out in the 1960’s.

Same-sex marriage was approved in Washington State during last November’s general election and took effect Dec. 6.  Nabors says the small intimate wedding was very touching.  Now that Gomer is out, he has no plans to become an activist.  He says

“I’m not a debater. And everybody has their own opinion about this, and actually I’m not an activist, so I’ve never gotten involved in any of this.”

Translation – “miss me with all the drama”.

Even though he was Gay, Gomer still had crazy SWAG!
