‘Girl Meets World’ Gets The Green Light!

To the surprise of absolutely no one, the Disney Channel has decided to pick up Girl Meets World. The “sequel” to the very popular show ‘Boy Meets world’ which was on the air from 1993 all the way to 2000. The new series will premiere sometime next year and will star Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, better known as Cory & Topanga!

Cory and Topanga will still be happily married in the new series and they’ll also have a teenager daughter who will be the main star of the show. The daughter will be played by Rowan Blanchard. Cory will be a History teacher at her school, following in the footsteps of the great Mr. Feeny.

Executive producer Michael Jacobs had this to say about the new show…

“Girls Meets World is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made Boy Meets World so popular.”

The new series will be set in New York and will likely feature guest appearances from cast members of the old show. Fan favorite Rider Strong might make a special appearance on the show, but he says he will only do it if it’s done right. “I just want it to be done right. I really want it to be classy and good. I want it to be something that makes fans proud.” he said recently at the ATX Television Festival.

So do I, Mr. Strong. I was a big fan of the old show, and can only hope they don’t screw up my memories. With Ben and Danielle, and even Michael Jacobs coming back I have a hard time believing they would screw it up that much, but we’ll find out soon enough!
