Randy Travis: Road to Recovery!

Randy Travis was close to death a week ago, but the 54-year-old country singer has made huge improvements the past few days and looks to be on the road to recovery. It’s being reported that Travis is now awake and even interacting with his family and friends.

Doctors at the Texas hospital have announced that Travis is still on a ventilator, but he is breathing on his own spontaneously. Doctors also announced that he is off the heart pump, and is beginning the very early stages of physical therapy. The quick recovery is a small miracle when you consider just how close he was to dying.

Not only did he suffer a horrible infection of the heart, but he also had a stroke and had to have emergency brain surgery. Doctors were very concerned, but it looks like all of their hard work has paid off.

Randy Travis’ fiancee, Mary Davis spoke directly to all of his fans in a video, thanking them for their prayers and well wishes…

“I know that Randy feels each and every one of those. He feels the hands of the doctors and the care of the nurses and the love of his fans. His friends and family have all been touched by that. He is responding well to voices and he sees and understands. He’s miles beyond where any of us thought he would be a few days ago.”

Doctors say Randy will remain at The Heart Hospital for at least two more weeks, and then he will be transferred elsewhere to receive “aggressive” physical therapy. They also say that the singer’s heart is still incredibly weak, but the infection that was attacking his heart has went away. Doctors think that he should be able to manage his weak heart with medication.

That’s certainly good news! Reading the reports last week, I honestly didn’t think he would make it. He must be in the hands of some good doctors.
