‘Bachelor’ Star Dies After Suicide Attempt

A former contestant on the Bachelor has sadly passed away at the young age of 29. Gia Allemand was on the 14th season of the dating show and made a lot of fans and friends during her time on the show. Sadly, the 29-year-old tried to take her own life on Monday and ended up being taken off life support on Wednesday.

Reports came out early this week about her medical emergency, but the details were sketchy at best. However, a PR company that represented the reality star cleared things up with the statement you see down below,

“Television personality and Model/Actress Gia Marie Allemand (29) passed away today at University Hospital, New Orleans. While in her residency in New Orleans on Monday night, Ms. Allemand was found by her boyfriend, NBA Basketball Player Ryan Anderson, following an apparent suicide attempt. Mr. Anderson contacted 911 and emergency medical crews were immediately dispatched to the scene. Tuesday, Ms. Allemand remained in the hospital unconscious in critical condition and on life support. Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn today. Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other life-long friends by her side.”

As the statement says, she was found by her boyfriend Ryan Anderson who is a forward for the New Orleans Pelicans. It’s difficult to even imagine the pain he must be going through right now.

Chris Harrison, the host of The Bachelor also released a statement on Gia’s unexpected death,

“We are absolutely devastated at the sad news of Gia’s passing. She was a wonderful person and we are all that much better for having known her and having her in our lives. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and we will very much respect their privacy at this most difficult time.”

What a sad story. I’m sure more details will be released as times goes on, but right now it’s difficult to understand why she would take her own life. I guess you never really know what’s going on behind closed doors.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
