Robin Roberts Officially Comes Out, Thanks Girlfriend In Emotional Facebook Post

53-year-old Robin Roberts has made headlines recently for her battle with cancer and her successful bone marrow transplant, which took place back in September of 2012.

The ‘Good Morning America‘ anchor went on Facebook yesterday to thank everyone who has helped throughout this journey. You see, yesterday marked the one year anniversary of 100 days post bone marrow transplant.

She decided to take this opportunity to thank all of her doctors, family, friends and her longtime girlfriend,

“At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude. I am grateful to God, my doctors and nurses for my restored good health. I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life. I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together.”

According to People magazine, Amber Laign is a licensed massage therapist from California. She and Robin were introduced to each other by mutual friends and have been partners for 10 years now.

While many people assumed that Robin was gay, this is the first time she has ever spoken publicly about her sexual orientation.

ABC News released the following statement,

“We love Robin and Amber, who we have all known for a long time. We were so touched by Robin’s Facebook message today and so thankful for all the loving support she has in her life.”

Well, it looks like everything is all sunshine and rainbows right now for Robin Roberts. She certainly deserves it after all the struggles she has been through recently. It’s nice to know she had someone who loved her by her side the entire time.
